Have you thought about what geospatial/geography professionals do? Are you aware of the multitude of career options that are available by pursuing a geographic education?
“Day of Geography” is intended to provide students and the general public with a glimpse into the day-to-day activities of geographers/geospatial/geomatics practitioners all over the world. After all, we know that we’re not all about colouring maps and knowing trivia pertaining to capital cities and longest rivers.
The goal is to raise awareness about the importance and relevance of geography to the broader public and perhaps more importantly, to students. It will provide a repository, whereby those interested in pursuing a geographic education or career can gain insight into what we do. It will be a resource that teachers and guidance counselors can point to, to illustrate what careers can be had with a geographic education.
Day of Geography 2017 is happening on Monday, November 13, 2017 to kick off Geography Awareness Week but you don’t need to wait until then to share your work day. Now you can log in via Facebook, Google or LinkedIn to share your story.
This event is completely free to participate in and relies on professionals like you to share your enthusiasm and passion for all things geo.
